Howdy. Here's  a quick update on the next few days at TW: I'll be doing a chat at ESPN starting at noon today, so if you have a question, get over there and post it. For the rest of the day, with a few interruptions, I'll be working on a post about my visit with Andy Roddick yesterday, and hope to have it up by this evening. He's hosting a huge, celebrity poker event (with help from the World Poker Tour) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., on Friday night.  6:30 PM to Midnight.

I visited the venue with Andy and his publicists yesterday and they've got a first-rate, appealing set-up (more about that later) where, if celebrity watching is your thing, you'll be able to ponder the likes of two of the most famous sets of sisters in the U.S. (Venus and Serena Williams and Paris and Nicky Hilton) cash in - or crash-and-burn - in a Texas Hold 'Em tournament. Seats for spectators are 20 bucks a pop, and even if you're not into star-gazing, you'll be supporting The Andy Roddick Foundation, which helps at-risk kids in South Florida.

Sidelight: while doing a flurry of interviews yesterday, one of the phrases Andy kept repeating was: "I remember a while go, getting up the courage to ask Andre Agassi if he had any regrets in his career, and his answer was, 'Absolutely. I regret that I didn't start my charitable work earlier.' That really stuck with me."

So count me in as someone shilling for Andy's even and hoping it's a huge success. The cause is worthy. Maybe one of our S. Florida Elders (Todd and in Charge?) can make it over there and write a Battlefield Report.

I'm also going to post some thoughts on Sports Illustrated passing over Roger Federer for Sportsman of the Year yet again, and discuss our survey results from yesterday. Steggy needs a hug; being a bit of a perfectionist, and tough on herself to boot, she's exasperated by dissatisfaction with our archiving system, into which she put a lot of tedious, day-labor hours. I keep telling her that it's nothing personal, and she swears she isn't taking it personally, but I think she is and that's our Steggy for you.

See you in the chat room. . .
