Mark Philippoussis takes wild card into Newport qualifying

Mark Philippoussis has taken a qualifying wild card into Newport, scheduling his first competitive match in nine years.

The 38-year-old, who experienced several knee injuries during his career, also played at Newport just before retiring from the tour. Philippoussis reached No. 8 in the world rankings and reached two Grand Slam finals, at Wimbledon (2003) and the U.S. Open (1998).
