Jelena Jankovic, who qualified for this week's event in Doha, is now being coached by Guillermo Canas.

"It’s a new partnership,” she told Sport360. “We just started this week. We’ve just been working for a couple of days before this tournament. It’s a brand new relationship—just new ideas, someone new just to kind of change it up.”

Canas is a former ATP player who has coached ATP pros, most recently Teymuraz Gabashvili. He has not previously worked with a WTA player.

Jankovic said he was still becoming familiar with the WTA's on-court coaching rules, a practice which is not allowed on the ATP tour.

The former No. 1 defeated Tsvetana Pironkova in the third round of qualifying before falling to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round of the WTA Premier. She is next scheduled to compete in Dubai.
