The United States begins its Fed Cup title defense today against the Netherlands, with Venus Williams and CoCo Vandeweghe getting the call for the first day in singles.

Williams starts play against Arantxa Rus, and Vandeweghe faces Richel Hogenkamp in the day’s second rubber. Neither of the Americans have faced their Dutch opponents, both of whom are ranked outside of the top 100 in singles.

Last year, the U.S. won its first title in more than a decade, defeating Belarus in the final. Throughout the Americans run to the championship, Vandeweghe won all of her singles and doubles matches across three ties.

Serena Williams and Lauren Davis make up the rest of the U.S. squad and are slated for doubles, which would be the fifth rubber contested if need be.
