It has been only two matches, but Kei Nishikori looks ready to prove to the world that he is nearly 100 percent healthy this week in Monte Carlo.

The former world No. 4 has looked impressive in clay-court action thus far, beating world No. 12 Tomas Berdych and talented Russian Daniil Medvedev in back-to-back matches.

Skill has never been lacking for the 28-year-old Nishikori, but wrist injuries have caused him to suffer a steady drop in the ATP rankings—he is now ranked No. 36. The great news is that he seems to be healthy again. It's only fitting that he finds himself in the Tennis Channel Plus Match of the Day.

Nishikori's next opponent will be Italian veteran Andreas Seppi. The 34-year-old has been playing some solid tennis in Monaco, beating Alex de Minaur and Marcel Granollers in qualifying.

The Italian then had a tough match against Kyle Edmund in the first round, but he ended up coming away with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 win. Seppi followed that victory up with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round.

Nishikori has to be feel somewhat confident against Seppi since he is 2-1 in their three completed career matches. He did, however, have to retire from their fourth meeting in Halle back in 2015. It's also worth noting that Nishikori's two wins have come in the best-of-three set format.

Seppi's only completed victory over Nishikori was a five-setter at Wimbledon in 2013. He does have some advantages though, like playing more matches so far in 2018 and having more time on court in Monte Carlo to gain his rhythm. The two will face off on Thursday on Tennis Channel Plus.
