A recent hip injury isn't just bothering Andy Murray during points, it's bothering him between points.

Returning to competition this week at Brisbane, Murray revealed that he is still restricted by the hip when hitting shots from particular positions, but also getting from one point to another.

"Weirdly enough, walking is actually worse than some of the movements I have to make on the court, which is odd," Murray told press at Brisbane, with a laugh. ''That's something that is frustrating for me at times, because I don't like walking around limping. Like when I see a video of myself doing that, that's been one of the things that's like, yeah, it's got me down quite a lot because I feel like as an athlete I should be able to do that properly."

But Murray, who won his opener at Brisbane before falling in the second round, was positive about the way the problem has improved since he underwent surgery a year ago and began an on-and-off return during the grasscourt season.

"I need to be smart with my training and my scheduling and things to try to -- because if I can keep my hip like as it is today, you know, I can play like that and enjoy the matches and what have you. If you put me kind of six months ago, I don't want to play like that," he said.

Murray, still ranked below the top 250, is using a protected ranking to play the Australian Open.
