Following her upset of world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty in the second round of the Rogers Cup in Toronto, 20-year-old Sofia Kenin showed no signs of a letdown two days later, when she cruised past Dayana Yastremska, 6-2, 6-2.

With a quarterfinal spot on the line, the young American fended off three break points in her opening service game before running away with the first set. She carried the momentum into the second set, closing out the match in just 57 minutes. She'll next face either Elina Svitolina or Belinda Bencic; in June, Kenin saved three championship points against Bencic before winning the Mallorca final.

By taking out Barty, her sixth win this season over a Top 15 player, Kenin became the youngest American in eight years to defeat a world No. 1, since 19-year-old Christina McHalle toppled Caroline Wozniacki in Cincinnati. Kenin also became just the second American aged 20 or younger to earn a win over a top-ranked player in 18 years.
