Earlier this week, America’s new favorite doubles team of Coco Gauff and Caty McNally broke through the Top 100 in doubles (Gauff also did so in singles). Now, they will try for their second title of the season in just four tournaments—not bad for two high-schoolers.

Now 11-2 at the WTA level, “Team McCoco” is proving themselves legitimate title contenders on a weekly basis. On Friday morning, Gauff and McNally dispatched the top-seeded duo of Kristyna Pliskova and Renata Voracova with ease, 6-2, 6-4.

Now the teenagers will face off against former USC Trojan doubles national champion Kaitlyn Christian and former Alabama Crimson Tide All-American Alexa Guarachi for the second time in as many weeks. Gauff and McNally dispatched Christian and Guarachi, 6-2, 6-3, last week in Linz.

“We are happy to have another crack at them this week. They are a very solid pair regardless of their age,” Christian told Tennis.com. “We treat them with as much respect as we would any other team.”

Christian, who was Emma Stone’s body double in Battle of the Sexes, has long been a premier doubles player ever since her days as a junior competitor in Southern California. Her list of NCAA doubles accolades is never ending, but she has a tremendous respect for the teenage duo.

“Some of the younger players early on in their career aren’t the most doubles savvy players, but this team knows how to play," Christian says. “Caty plays well around the net and Coco is a force from the baseline—they compliment each other well. We are looking forward to playing them again.”

The 27-year-old is seeking her first WTA trophy, while Guarachi is bidding to win her second.
