Karolina Pliskova has severed ties with Conchita Martinez, nearly 15 months after adding the Wimbledon singles champion to her coaching team. The 27-year-old Czech made the announcement on social media on Thursday.

Having started the season ranked No. 8, Pliskova ended on a high note with a No. 2 ranking, thanks to her four title runs in Brisbane, Rome, Eastbourne and Zhengzhou. She also reached the semifinals of the Australian Open and the WTA Finals.

Pliskova is the third high-profile WTA player to make a coaching change so far this off-season. World No. 9 Kiki Bertens announced that she had split with her coach Raemon Sluiter, while former Top-10 standout Julia Goerges joined forces with Jens Gerlach.

Martinez is a former world No. 2 with 33 singles crowns. The Spaniard previously coached compatriot Garbine Muguruza, helping her lift her second career Grand Slam trophy at the 2017 Wimbledon Championships.
