The Frenchman is playing this week's Abu Dhabi exhibition event, having finished his season just a few weeks ago with Davis Cup.

Gael Monfils is known for his speed around the court, and the 33-year-old doesn't want his career slowing down either.

The Frenchman changed his team for this season and finished in the Top 10 again, having reached a career-high No.6 in 2016. But he's still aiming for more.

"I want to explore some parts I’ve never been," he toldSport360. To be in the Top five would be pretty amazing if I can reach that next season."

Monfils won his sole 2019 singles title at Rotterdam, and reached the quarterfinals of the US Open. Though viewed as one of the most talented players on tour, he has been frequently injured and known for his up-and-down play during his career.

The Frenchman is playing this week's Abu Dhabi exhibition event, having finished his season just a few weeks ago with Davis Cup. But he'd rather be on court than have a longer vacation.

"It's not really my plan to have a rest. To be honest, I’m excited to start working, even though I’ve already started working on my pre-season to make some changes so I’m stronger for next year," he said.

Monfils has eight career titles.
