Halep donates funds to help her country's efforts against coronavirus

Simona Halep has announced she is donating funds to Bucharest and her hometown of Constanta to purchase medical supplies. The donation is to help the country's efforts against coronavirus

The 28-year-old told others to listen to authorities and credited the efforts of doctors. "I encourage all those who can to contribute to efforts against the virus," she said. "In the meantime, we should take care of ourselves, take responsibility and keep positive."

Halep was the winner of the WTA event in Dubai, just a week before tour events were canceled due to the virus.

Halep is No. 2 in the rankings.
