Two taped left toes were also showcased in his carousel of photos, a feature that did not go unnoticed.

“State of them hooves in the final pic. Vamos,” wrote Murray's former coach Jamie Delgado.

One fan suggested, “You could play the piano with those toes.” Another commented, “Not the free feet pic.”

Murray played one tournament on red dirt last season, a decision that came as a bit of a surprise at the time after changing his mind about forgoing events on the surface as a precaution to his body. Accepting a wild card into Madrid, the Dunblane native impressed in wins over Dominic Thiem and Denis Shapovalov before pulling out ahead of his third-round clash with Novak Djokovic.

The 35-year-old holds a career 109-47 mark on clay that includes a pair of Masters 1000 crowns. Murray hasn’t played a full European clay swing since 2017, when he was ranked No. 1.
