Belinda Bencic celebrated her 22nd birthday during the BNP Paribas Open at the Cheesecake Factory, but her big gift to herself came before she arrived in the desert.

The Swiss defeated four Top-10 players to win the Dubai title, and she earned February’s WTA Player of the Month award.

She carried her momentum into Indian Wells by taking out Alison Van Uytvanck and Ekaterina Alexandrova to reach the round of 16. She'll take on top seed Naomi Osaka on Tuesday.
