Maybe you can’t play tennis like two-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz, but soon you’ll be able to travel like him—thanks to a collaboration with Louis Vuitton.

The Spaniard, a Louis Vuitton global brand ambassador since last year, recently showed off a lavish new wardrobe trunk handcrafted by the maison and personalized for all his tennis gear and memorabilia.

Alcaraz’s custom Malle Vestiaire features all the signature Louis Vuitton details: It’s made from wood that’s been covered with the iconic LV Monogram canvas, and uses the same brass closures, clasps and rivets that the maison has been applying on its trunks since the 1860s.

“Working on this Malle Vestiaire with Louis Vuitton’s artisans has been a great experience and a privilege,” Alcaraz said in a statement. “I am really proud of what we've been able to create together with this collaboration.”

The trunk is also packed with details personal to Alcaraz, starting from the hand-painted “travel stickers” that feature a silhouette of a man playing tennis and a tennis ball that reads “Since 2003”—a nod to Alcaraz’s birthday year.

Featuring several drawers, racks and compartments, Alcaraz’s wardrobe trunk does more than just hold the contents of his luggage. His Malle Vestiaire tells a story, with Alcaraz’s favorite LV x Nike Air Force 1s prominently displayed alongside the shirt he wore when he won Wimbledon, as well as a few other Louis Vuitton goodies tucked away—like the blue Speedy P9 bag that was gifted to him by Pharrell Williams, the LV men’s creative director.

“I put personal items inside it that represent my life and career, and the custom hand-painted symbols on the outside also represent me as a person—they add a nice, personalized touch,” Alcaraz said.

“For me, it is a bit of a time capsule from my first trophy at 10 years old, to my shirt and shoes from my Wimbledon win.”

Louis Vuitton has gone back to their trunk-making roots with the creation of the Malle Vestiaire trunk, which launched last year with rugby legend Dan Carter. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the French maison has sought to strengthen its connection to the world of sports as the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris approaches.

“What I love about Louis Vuitton is that they are more than just a fashion brand. It is more than just clothes. The brand is ingrained in culture and has been for over 100 years,” said Alcaraz.

“They understand how to mix fashion with art, design, sport and music, to make something unique and special. The campaign with Messi and Ronaldo playing chess, for example. I think only Louis Vuitton could do that,” he added.

A replica of Alcaraz's Malle Vestiaire will set you back about 150,000 euros ($164,000 USD), and will come without the hand-painted touches and personalized details. But, since each trunk is made to order, that just means it will be fully customized for you instead.

Currently ranked world No. 2, Alcaraz will be back in action in Melbourne at the Australian Open, which kicks off on January 14.
