As if the cheers in Melbourne and throughout the world were not enough for newly minted Australian Open champion Roger Federer.

A few days after the 17th seed came back from a 1-3 deficit in the fifth set of the Australian Open final against rival Rafael Nadal to win the title, the Swiss had a welcoming party waiting for him when he arrived in Zurich on Tuesday.

Federer, who won his fifth Norman Brookes Challenge Cup on Sunday, carried the trophy with him into the airport with Switzerland’s flag waving in front of him.

The 18-time Grand Slam champion, who just won his first major title since Wimbledon in 2012, was surrounded by ecstatic fans and media capturing the moment.
