At last year’s US Open, Jannik Sinner got a unique opportunity to meet one of the biggest stars in one of the other sports he’s passionate about: skiing icon Lindsey Vonn.

Sinner, who was a champion skier as a junior in Italy, met Vonn during a shared sponsor activity in Flushing Meadows, and said he hoped to hit the slopes with her one day.

“It was nice to meet her and have a few words with her, a champion I watched competing on TV when I was a child,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “At the end of the season, if I can, I said that I will take her skiing on my mountains.”

And it appears he just got his wish.

Before heading to Bratislava for Italy’s Davis Cup Qualifier tie against Slovakia, Sinner went skiing with Vonn—as well as another professional skier, Manfred Moelgg—at Plan de Corones in Italy. He tweeted out a photo of the ski day on Tuesday.

Sinner, who was the first man born in the 2000s to reach the Top 10 on the ATP rankings, just secured his second Grand Slam quarterfinal showing at the Australian Open—his first came at Roland Garros in 2020. The 20-year-old Italian already has five career ATP titles, winning one in 2020 (Sofia) and four more in 2021 (Melbourne-1, Washington D.C., Sofia and Antwerp).
