Last Saturday, Serena Williams continued her "Serena Saturday's" by discussing the hard-hitting systemic inequality issues alongside guest and husband Alexis Ohanian.

Recently, the Reddit co-founder became a trending topic on Twitter due to his surprising decision to step down from the Reddit board. The married couple discussed Ohanian's news and explored other topics around inequality.

"This was not an easy decision at all," Ohanian said. "Reddit is a company that I started right out of college, spent a lot of my formative years working countless hours building with the hope of creating a really special platform for community online. I take that board of responsibility very seriously."

The 37-year-old reflected on what he could do to really generate change other than donating or being vocal on social media. Ohanian said stepping down from the board and making way for a black candidate would make an impact beyond just the company itself.

"We need diversity on the highest level of business, now more than ever," Ohanian said.

He spoke about how the world is currently igniting change in our justice system, and stated that the tech industry is long overdue for the same adjustments. The Reddit co-founder was floored to see the flood of reactions from past employees, friends and the outpouring of support from around the world. It also marked the first time Ohanian and Reddit were a trending topic on Twitter, an unusual accolade he was amazed to see.

Ohanian went on to speak about the venture community and firms and their distribution to founders of color. Less than 10 percent of current founders are black and although he believes progress is being made, there is still a steep mountain to climb.

"I can not stress enough, the strength of numbers of people, whether they're on social media or wherever they are, actually makes an impact by holding leaders accountable" Ohanian said.

Although faced with criticism over having such a low black founder percentage, Ohanian is comfortable with being uncomfortable and is welcoming being pushed to do better.

His wife has faced discrimination, inequality and judgement due to the color of her skin, and that's something Ohanian has not endured. He discussed privilege and his ability to navigate through life without proving himself.

"I scramble my brain, trying to think of one time in my life where I walked into a board room full of billionaires and didn't feel totally welcome there," he said.

His two-year-old daughter Olympia was a huge driving force for Ohanian to step down. Creating and molding a better world for his daughter was top of mind and he wanted to say and do something that carried more weight.

"I really want all of this energy to continue. I really meant it when I said: Do not stop," Ohanian said.

He compared Olympia to a blank canvas, accepting of everyone and willing to give love to all. This sparked a frustration as he began thinking of the challenges and difficulties Olympia may face when she gets older.

"If I'm this pissed off just now, how have you been able to endure your entire life, how have generations of black Americans been able to endure their entire life?" Ohanian asked Serena. "Because if I'm just getting this mad right now, I wouldn't be able to function."

The 23-time Grand Slam champion talked about how discrimination became a normal aspect of her life, but she kept her focus on the court. She did her best to adapt and keep her faith intact.

"Because of my career and the sport that I chose, it's been a lot harder than a lot of other sports," Serena said. "I do believe the only reason I have been able to come through is because my belief in the Bible and my faith."

Serena closed the conversation by thanking her husband for giving her the exclusive scoop and a highly demanded interview. Fans can catch Serena talking about life, current topics, fashion and more every Saturday.
