Serena Williams paid tribute to Kobe Bryant on Monday, the day of his memorial in Los Angeles.The two-hour ceremony at the Staples Center included performances by Beyoncé and Alicia Keys and speeches by Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Bryant's widow Vanessa Bryant and more.

Serena had a special video to share with the simple caption "Forever".

Bryant picked up tennis after retiring from his illustrious 20-year Lakers career. The Lakers' general manager Rob Pelinka referred to Bryant's passion for tennis in his speech on Tuesday.

Serena and Bryant had a deeply-rooted mutual respect for one another.

Serena is one of many tennis stars lucky enough to have crossed paths with and been inspired by Bryant. He and his daughter Gigi, as well as seven others, died in a helicopter crash on January 26 in Calabasas, Calif.
