Two iconic athletes who know a thing or two about damage control came together in support of one's children's charity on October 20. Held at the New York Public Library, the Tiger Woods Foundation put on its 20th-anniversary fundraising gala, and its eponymous founder made time to chat and pose with Maria Sharapova, one of many well-heeled guests in attendance.

Like Sharapova did at the start of the month, Woods recently appeared on the Charlie Rose show to talk about his comeback to the game, and of course, some touchy subjects.

The California-based Tiger Woods Foundation's theme, "Unexpected Champions," speaks to its mission to aid students with resources to set them up for success in their lives, including scholarship funds. With the support of Sharapova, Nike co-founder Phil Knight and more high-wattage chums, Woods and his charity are well on their way to making even more of that happen.

Sharapova donned her best black and white in an asymmetrical white button-up, a blazer with cuffs rolled up, a sensible but stylish knee-length skirt, and more from stylist Tabitha Simmons.
