There may have been a Formula 1 race in Las Vegas on Sunday, but “the real Grand Prix” happened on Sloane Stephens’ Instagram afterward.

The American was in the Neon City with husband Jozy Altidore over the weekend taking in one of motorsport’s flashiest events. But while the likes of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were battling it out on the circuit, the real action was all about people-watching on the pitwall where the Hollywood glitterati were out in full force.

Celebrities in attendance included Justin Bieber—who waved the checkered flag marking another Verstappen victory—as well as Brad Pitt, Paris Hilton, Lupita Nyong’o, Gordon Ramsay and more. But it was pop megastar Rihanna, who attended with rapper A$AP Rocky, her partner, that stole the show for Stephens.

The 30-year-old was posting up a storm from Las Vegas, and shared a surprise snap on Instagram with Riri herself:

“The real Grand Prix 😍,” Stephens wrote, tagging the singer in her post.

“This hard as shit,” Frances Tiafoe replied in the comments, while his girlfriend Ayan Broomfield was a bit more effusive in her own praise: “OHHHHH MYYYYYY GOSSHHHHHH😍😍😍😍😍😍😍”

The American has been enjoying the off-season after playing her last WTA tournament of the year in September at the WTA 1000 event in Guadalajara, where she lost in the second round 6-1, 6-2 to Emiliana Arango.

She recently took part in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Seville, where she teamed up with Taylor Townsend for doubles during Team USA’s 3-0 playoff win over Switzerland, before being eliminated by the Czech Republic in the next round.

It marked the end of a disappointing season for Stephens, who won a WTA 125K title in Saint-Malo and reached one semifinal at the WTA 250 in Rabat as well as three 250-level quarterfinals. But she was unable to defend her Guadalajara 250 title or go deep at a Grand Slam—she reached the fourth round at Roland Garros—and went 2-7 against the WTA’s Top 20.

Currently ranked No. 47, Stephens is set to kick off the 2024 season at the Hobart International.
