It's a been a rough year all around, and in Australia the troubles began right off the bat, with the bushfires causing immense damage in January.

At Bomaderry High School in New South Wales, teacher Jenny Raison was known to hold WTA No. 1 Ashleigh Barty up as an example for her students to look up to in thought times. And one student, Sienna O’Brien, persuaded Barty to pay the class a visit:

After surprising the class with the appearance, Barty took everyone onto the tennis courts to play together.

"[It's] such a fantastic highlight to the end of the year for them," Raison said, "after such a difficult run."
