Final Analysis: The well-rounded Asics Gel-Resolution 4 is a great choice for a variety of players because it supports all foot types, its modified herringbone outsole can adapt to clay or hard courts, and it’s equally suitable for club as well as elite players. The shoe features the Impact Guidance System, or I.G.S., a set of linked components that Asics claims is designed to enhance the foot’s natural auto-support system during high-torsion and high-impact activities. While some female weartesters found the forefoot area of the shoe a little too stiff, others relished the relatively light feel that came from the reserved use of cushioning material. Gel-Resolution fans looking to upgrade should be aware of the fact that, according to the company, the Gel-Resolution 4 tends to run a little longer than its predecessor. So, if you wear a size 10, make sure you try on a size 9.5 before buying.
