The Pitch
The Dunlop S5.0 Lite includes Biofibre, a material in the shaft that dampens vibrations, as well as Aeroskin Cx, an aerodynamic surface–frame application. Racquets in the 5.0 series, like those in the 2.0 series, also feature MoS2 grommets, which expand the sweet spot by allowing strings to move more freely upon impact.

How It Tested
The S5.0 Lite, as its name implies, is a breeze to swing. At 9 ounces strung, it’s very maneuverable, and fits well in the hands of improving beginners and 11- to 12-year-old juniors eager to improve their stroke production. “Around a 3.0 level, the S Lite is stable, comfortable and solid,” says Racquet Advisor Bruce Levine. “But if you’re a player who takes a sizable cut at the ball, you’ll want a racquet that’s heavier than this.” Even so, a few intermediates preferring a quicker feel enjoyed the S Lite. Said one 3.5 playtester with a two-handed backhand, “It offered a great balance of spin and power, which was ideal for my baseline-heavy game. There was a very crisp feel.” However, players with short, punchy swings would do best to look elsewhere; while powerful, the S5.0 Lite has a 100 square inch head, and thus doesn’t allow the same margin of error as other larger, more forgiving game-improvement racquets.

Bottom Line
A comfortable, powerful and highly maneuverable racquet for club-level beginners and preteen juniors still developing their games.
