Product Profile: Federer Wimbledon Bag

by: Jon Levey June 17, 2013

2013 has not been a typically superlative year for Roger Federer, but the tournament schedule has brought him back to his beloved grass courts. This past weekend he won the tournament in Halle—his first title since last August—and is about to defend his Wimbledon throne. And say what you will about his recent performance, and recent haircut, but Federer generally practices his craft with a sense of style.

So when he takes Centre Court in London, it will be with a new, limited edition Wilson Wimbledon racquet bag ($150). With a freshly strung racquet at every ball change, Federer clearly needs a bunch of sticks with him on-court, and this bag can carry up to 12 frames. Each side panel of the bag is molded with EVA foam which protects racquets from impact and gives the bag its shape. There’s also two thermoguard compartments to shield racquets from extreme heat. A detachable gymsack is provided to keep sweaty clothes or dirty shoes separate from other belongings.

But for the Fed-philes out there, the real attraction will be his personalized signature and the seven Wimbledon trophies displayed twice across the top of the bag. If Federer offers a repeat performance this year, there’s plenty of room on the bag to draw in an eighth.
