Product Profile: Maria Sharapova Wimbledon Bags
A second round drubbing from a player ranked 128 spots below her was not what Maria Sharapova had in mind for her Wimbledon fortnight. All credit to Sharapova’s vanquisher, Michelle Larcher De Brito, who outhit and out-screeched her more heralded opponent. Sharapova had been carrying some new baggage on court with her that didn’t bring her much luck. No, not her escalating war of words with Serena Williams, but a couple of newly designed Head racquet bags.
The series—debuting at Wimbledon and available at retailers in July—consists of two models: the Maria Sharapova Racquet Bag Court ($115, right) and the Maria Sharapova Tennis Racquet Bag Combi ($100, above). The bags are both black with neon lime and purple accent colors and have nearly identical dimensions. The Court Bag holds 2-4 frames with a large main compartment for clothes along with toiletry/cosmetic and wet clothes bags. The Combi has more of a racquet shape with room for 3-5 frames as well as a wet clothes bag and a large accessories compartment.
Head is also holding a contest for fans to win an autographed Sharapova Court Bag. The “Pack Maria’s Bag” app on the Head Facebook page challenges users to find Maria’s missing personal belongings and pack them in her new bag. Do it correctly and earn a chance for a free bag, which would hopefully bring you more luck than it did Sharapova.
