The Pitch
The Völkl 10 Mid now features Organix, a high-tech cellulose material that, according to Völkl, offers more dampening, higher response and added stability. The Völkl 10 is also built with Bio Sensor, a weighted pin placed at the end of the handle that dampens frame vibrations even further. The Germanbased company says Bio Sensor enhances the racquet’s feel and comfort, specifically by mimicking the mass-damper pendulums skyscrapers use to survive high-impact events, such as hurricanes and earthquakes.

How It Tested
Advanced all-courters and net-rushers with old-school games said that, despite all the new technological bells and whistles, the Organix 10 Mid played like an old friend. As one 5.0 playtester with a taste for midsized frames put it, “It was solid but maneuverable. It was especially good for volleys and pace on serves.” Other playtesters spoke highly of the 10 Mid’s clean feel blocking back returns, as well as its deft skills carving underspin shots throughout the court. While some did acknowledge, unsurprisingly, that the 10 was underpowered in the backcourt—the mid-sized head has an exacting sweet spot—there was some access to spin, owing to an open, 16x19 string pattern.

Bottom Line
For classic players with deft volleys, long swings and non-extreme grips.
