Pete

Mornin' everyone. I'm working on a post for ESPN on the French Open and will probably use that as a jumping off point for a discussion tomorrow or Thursday. Today, though, I just want you all to know that it's publication date for the book Pete Sampras and I put together over the last year, *A Champion's Mind*. It's available for immediate shipment via Amazon.com and other booksellers.

To me, the interesting to see will be how successful we can be with a book that's long on tennis - the X's and O's, the relationships with coaches, the issues and decisions faced by a player who has the potential - in this case, totally fulfilled - to become a champion on the short list for Greatest of All Time. We hear all the time that the reading public is most interested in gossip, intimate revelations, score-settling and whistle-blowing. This book will certainly put that theory to test. A few weeks down the road - sometime between Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, I'll write a post soliciting comments and reviews, asking those of you who read the book to weigh-in with your (honest) thoughts. So if you happen to read in in the next few weeks, jot a few reminder notes, but keep your powder dry.

Wimbledon has also released its list of wild cards. I'm a little swamped today - readjustment day - but I'll probably do a post on the club's selections on Thursday or Friday. Meanwhile, enjoy Queens and the run up to the Championships. I'll be traveling to Wimbledon to blog live from London for the second week of the tournament.

You know, it's really nice to be home. . .
