Emma Raducanu picked up another injury while playing in the Billie Jean King Cup for Britain, competing twice during the team's 3-2 defeat against the Czech Republic.

The 19-year-old won her opening rubber, but was affected by blisters on her feet in her second singles and fell 6-1, 6-1 to Marketa Vondrousova.

"It completely stopped me from moving," Raducanu told press at the Prague tie. "But in some sort of twisted way it gives me a sense of confidence and relief that I don’t think it’s my tennis that’s the issue.

“I think my tennis level is pretty good. It’s just about being able to repeat it or maintain it or not be hampered by any kind of physical issues."

It's the most recent in a series of physical problems the teenager has had since winning the 2021 US Open, including a hand blister at the Australian Open and back problems at Indian Wells.

Britain's captain, Anne Keothavong, suggested that it would take a little while for Raducanu to get physically "more robust" for the rigors of tour competition.

"I don't think that's any secret and she's working on it," she said.

Raducanu has still not completed a full season on tour, having only started playing full-time midway through 2021.

This week, she is scheduled to compete in the WTA 500-level clay-court event in Stuttgart. Seeded No. 8, she will take on Australia’s Storm Sanders in her opening match.
