Andy Roddick’s best tennis memory may have come in Queens when he lifted the 2003 US Open trophy in Flushing Meadows, but is he trading Brooklyn (his new fiancée) for Manhattan? Not exactly.

The 25-year-old had a big week in Miami, announcing his engagement to model Brooklyn Decker, 20, and finally notching a win over nemesis Roger Federer in the quarterfinals of the Sony Ericsson Open.

And the New York Observer now reports that the Nebraska-born, Florida-raised Roddick has purchased some digs in the Big Apple.

The quaint condo, located at East 22nd Street near Gramercy Park, according to the Observer, was on the market for $1.195 million. The space is not as grand as his Texas digs, offering only one bathroom, a “dining gallery” as opposed to a dining room, and one living area.

Roddick, who is much more at home in Texas Hill Country where he likes to unwind on his boat between tournaments, already owns a lake-front home in Austin, Texas, valued at over $2 million.

Perhaps the lure of the city has enticed him—a place to stay during the US Open, and perhaps given his fiancée’s line of work, Fashion Week—but given the modest specs on the new apartment, Roddick hasn’t strayed too far from his jeans and t-shirt humble roots.

Roddick joins Jelena Jankovic on the list of big real estate purchasers.  Jankovic owns two homes in  South Florida, but is heading west, building a new home in Southern California.

Jankovic has purchased a plot of land near San Diego in high-end Rancho Santa Fe.
She told reporters of her newest acquisition before asking them not to write about it, but later invited them to her house-warming party. The 23-year-old plans to build a home in a gated community, no doubt making it harder for her media guests to attend.

“I don't know why I picked San Diego. I think the weather is really great here in California. I like the people. As a young kid I was in Florida and had a house in Sarasota, and I still do. I have a house in Miami, but I don't really like the humidity in Florida,” she said of her decision to move to the area.

“And it's so much nicer and easier to live, and I really like it and I have a lot friends there, as well. I mean here in California.

"So I'm looking forward to having the house and when it will be ready, it will be great.”

Several other players make their home in California, including Lindsay Davenport, Taylor Dent, and Sam Querrey.
