Thomas Muster has announced he will return to the challenger circuit at the age of 42, 11 years after playing his last match at the 1999 French Open.

"I never formally retired, as I said after that match I would go on a holiday," former No. 1 Muster said. "So now I am just returning from my holiday."

He will begin at the Braunschweig challenger in Germany in two weeks' time.
