ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP)—Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams could be adding to their collection of Laureus World Sports Awards when the winners are revealed next month.

The Spanish and American tennis stars are among the nominees for the 2011 honors announced in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Nadal is in the running for his second prize in the men’s competition. He’s up against Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel, Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and Barcelona soccer stars Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi.

Three-time winner Williams is up against fellow tennis players Kim Clijsters and Caroline Wozniacki, American skier Lindsey Vonn, track’s Jessica Ennis of Britain and Croatian high jumper Blanka Vlasic.
