Nick Kyrgios, who will play the Davis Cup quarterfinal for the Aussies in Brisbane, Australia starting on Friday, says that he is playing substantially better because he is competing better.
In Miami, the 21-year-old Kyrgios reached the semifinal, barely losing to Roger Federer, 7-6 (9), 6-7 (9), 7-6 (5). It was his third semifinal in four events.
Kyrgios said that, finally, he is maturing.
“I think my level's always been there, but where I'm at mentally, at the moment, I'm just competing for every point and playing hard, and I haven't really had that mindset before,” Kyrgios told *The* *Sydney Morning Herald*. “I'm probably in the best place I've ever been in.”
