Agnieszka Radwanska is back on tour for the first time since her recent wedding, a highlight in what has been a lackluster season for the 10th-ranked player.
"It was obviously great," she told a small group of journalists in Toronto, referring to the ceremony in her hometown of Krakow, Poland.
Fellow players, including Caroline Wozniacki and Angelique Kerber, attended the nuptials.
"I'm happy that Angie and Caro could come,” she said. “I was saying, ‘I couldn't imagine having a wedding [if they weren't there].’ And all the Polish players as well,”
She laughingly recalled starting the day in high heels but finishing in something very different.
"Obviously, I was in sneakers," said Radwanksa. "I was wearing 10 centimeters, then lower and lower."
But Radwanska has been having foot problems of a different kind on the tennis court, saying an injury has been bothering her for more than a year.
"That's why I was skipping a couple of tournaments along the way," she said. "We'll see how it goes with the hard courts, especially a couple of tournaments in [a] row, but it's been a long time with that."
