Struff stuns Zverev, losing only four games in Indian Wells 3rd round

He came into his third-round match as the overwhelming underdog but Jan-Lennard Struff emerged victorious following a superb display of tennis. The German took out fellow countryman and third-seeded Alexander Zverev in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, punching his ticket to the Indian Wells fourth round—a first for him.

Struff came out with all guns blazing, easily taking the first set, 6-3. Instead of experiencing some letdown in the second set, he actually upped the level of his play, only giving up one game to shock Zverev, and the fans.

"It's amazing," Struff said. "I played a good match. He was missing some shots today, but at the end of the day I'm very happy with that."

After four unsuccessful attempts, the 28-year-old finally won a match against the 21-year-old. Also, this is the first time Struff has won three consecutive matches in the main draw of an ATP Masters 1000.

The world No. 55 will next face Milos Raonic, who recovered from a set down to win in three sets against an inspired No. 217-ranked American Marcos Giron.
