Good morning. This post is the Tribe's regular space for discussing the tennis taking place in New York. Today's schedule can be found on this link. Please keep the subject of your conversations focused on tennis while it's going on. Afterwards, some off-topic chat is OK.

Matches of the Day:

Men - On Court 11, Juan Martin Del Potro meets Thomaz Bellucci. On Court 13, Roko Karanusic plays Kei Nishikori,  and later Philipp Kohschreiber plays Washington finalist Viktor Troicki. None of these matchups has taken place before. Unfortunately, most of us won't be able to see those matches. During the day, I'll be focused on Andy Murray's encounter with Michael Llodra. Murray won their only previous match, but world number 38 Llodra has won a tournament this year, and some recent early-round exits were hard-fought against higher-ranked players.

Women - I intend to watch some of Bethanie Mattek's match with Alize Cornet on the Grandstand Court. The two have never met before. I'll also take a look at Amelie Mauresmo's match with Kaia Kanepi - Mauresmo's recent victory over Kanepi in New Haven went to three sets.

Player of the Day:

Anne Keothavong played her way into the third round by beating Francesca Schiavone, the 25th seed, coming back from 2-4 down in the final set to take the match. Keothavong is the British number one player, currently ranked 87. She's the first British woman to reach the third round of the US Open since 1991, when Jo Durie and Sara Gomer both made it there. Durie went a round further, though to do so this year, Keothavong would need to defeat the Olympic Gold medallist, Elena Dementieva, in the next round.

Weather Report:

Another sunny day is expected.

As always, enjoy today's tennis.
