The big day is approaching for 18-time Grand Slam Champion Chris Evert and golfer Greg Norman, who became engaged last December while attending the South African Open.

When asked about wedding plans at the time, Evert answered, “Well, it is an engagement ring. ... We don't know when and where we'll be married though.”

It appears that those two questions have now been answered, with a wedding on American soil likely in June of this year.

The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that invitations are being expected by names such as fellow Aussies Lleyton Hewitt and his wife, Bec, as well as Russell Crowe and his wife, Danielle Spencer.

Other high profile names anticipated at the summer nuptials are former Presidents George H. Bush and Bill Clinton and industry execs Ted Kunkel (former Foster’s boss), Rupert Murdoch (News Corporation chief), and Jack Welch (former head of General Electric).

It will be the third marriage for Evert and the second for Norman. The couple were friends while married separately to other people and endured a courtship that came under great controversy as both were separating/divorcing from their respective spouses, Evert from her husband of 18 years, Olympic skier Andy Mill, and Norman from his wife of 25 years, former airline hostess, Laura Andrassy. The tennis Hall of Famer was previously married to British tennis player, John Lloyd, and was once engaged to Jimmy Connors.

The former World No. 1’s were neighbors in Florida and shared Evert’s Boca Raton home according to reports, but Norman has purchased a luxury palazzo, which they will likely share, inspired by the Doge’s Palace in Venice. The home, “Villa Venezia,” worth more than $20 million dollars and boasting 52 rooms, sits on 3.77 acres of prime waterfront real estate in Palm Beach. The 28,000 sqft home is also rich in history, formerly owned by the wife of late publishing mogul Randolph Hearst.
