Mornin'. Seems that traffic was fairly light yesterday, indicating that most of you had weekend plans, probably outdoors. Lisa, Luke and I went over to Bovina, a neighboring town, for its community day celebration. The main events were a town parade and a  "vintage" baseball game between Bovina and Fleischmann's, both of whom have official retro-teams in what appears to be a budding league.

The players dress in replica vintage uniforms (either old-fashioned flannels or black and white wool outfits, complete with suspenders; my favorite were Fleischmann's leggings/socks, which were black-and-yellow striped, bumble-bee style). The men play bare-handed (but with a proper hardball - outch!). It was really fun to watch, and the level of play was good - most of the guys grew up playing for their town teams, or in Little League or Legion ball. It was an altogether fine afternoon.

Speaking of  ball! Although the tournaments aren't high on the radar, we have a few intriguing finals on tap today: a pair of Italian chicas (Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta) square off at home in the Palermo final; Sweden has a home-nation representative in the Bastad final, Robin Soderling (playing Juan Monaco). I think the connoisseur's match, though, may the Jeremy Chardy vs. Victor Hanescu tilt in Stuttgart.

Enjoy the day, everyone, whether you're watching tennis, lounging at the beach, or just relaxing at home with the Sunday papers.
