The 6-foot-10 Croatian is the tallest man to reach the Top 100 in ATP history. Karlovic relied on his mammoth serve at the start of his career, but has developed a more well-rounded game revolving around his serve. Widely regarded as one of the most lethal servers in tennis history, Karlovic holds the record for the fastest recorded serve in a professional match: a 156 mph missile. He won three titles on three different surfaces —clay (Houston), grass (Nottingham) and hard court (Stockholm) — in 2007. On September 18, 2009, Karlovic hit 78 aces (77 aces on 1st serve) in a Davis Cup match against Radek Stepanek. Karlovic married his wife, Alsi, on March 29, 2005. The couple's first child, Jada Valentina, was born on September 16, 2011. In the spring of 2013, Karlovic was rushed to a Miami hospital suffering from viral meningitis. He returned to tennis after a near three-month absence and in July, 2013, he won his first ATP in five years beating Alejandro Falla in the Bogota final.
