Richard Gasquet Bio and Stats

Richard Gasquet won his first career title in 2005, in Nottingham, and won three titles the following year to cement himself as one of the finest players on the ATP tour. A lot was expected of Gasquet, who turned pro as arguably the most talked-about junior in the history of French tennis. He was given the nickname “Baby Federer,” and while he never lived up to those expectations—who could?—he proved to be a consistent winner. Gasquet reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2007—and again in 2015—and the semifinals of the U.S. Open in 2013. After reaching the semis at the All England Club, he moved up to No. 7 in the world. The Frenchman won the French Open mixed doubles title with Tatiana Golovin in 2004 and won a bronze medal in doubles at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He has one of the best one-handed backhands in tennis.

Gasquet defeated Andy Roddick in a five-set classic to reach the 2007 Wimbledon semifinals:
