Austrian Tamira Paszek claimed her first title as a teenager at Portoroz in 2006. She needed four years to win another title, this time at Quebec City. The 5'5" baseliner lacks the size of more powerful opponents, but compensates by trying to take the ball early and playing aggressive drives. Paszek reached her first major quarterfinal at the 2011 Wimbledon — six years after she played the Wimbledon junior final. In June, 2012, Paszek fought off five match points to edge Angelique Kerber in the Eastbourne final and win her third career title.
