In 2007, the Belgian qualified for his second ATP tournament of his career in Amersfoort where he defeated Gicquel, Simon, Andreev, and No. 13 Youhzny before taking down Eschauer in the final. He played doubles for his native country the same year. He captured his second ATP title in 2008 and closed the season with a quarterfinal in Lyon where he defeated No. 15 Gasquet, his highest-ranked win. He posted his first top ten win over No. 7 Berdych in the first round at the London Olympics in 2012 and fifth seed Nadal in straight sets in the first round of Wimbledon the following year. At the time, Darcis was ranked No. 135 which made him the lowest-ranked player to defeat Nadal at a major. This win caused Nadal to suffer his first-ever first round defeat in 35 Grand Slam championships.
