A powerful baseliner, Caroline Garcia played her first four WTA main draws in 2011. She reached the second round of Roland Garros and took the opening set from Maria Sharapova before bowing in three sets. The fifth-seeded Garcia defeated top-seeded defending champion Jelena Jankovic, 6-3, 6-4, to score her first career Top 10 win and capture her first career WTA title in Bogotá in April, 2014. Garcia also partnered Lara Arruabarrena to win the doubles title and become the first woman in nearly two years (Serena Williams at the 2012 London Olympics was the last) to complete a singles-doubles sweep at a WTA-level event.
