Frequently regarded as the greatest Portuguese tennis player of all time, this right-handed 26 year-old first caught the world’s attention when he won the 2013 Proton Malaysian Open, becoming the first player from Portugal to win a tournament at the ATP World Tour level. Sousa holds a number of Portuguese men's tennis records, including being the only Portuguese to enter the top 50 when he reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 35 on July 14, 2014 and was the first Portuguese ever to be seeded at a Grand Slam tournament at the 2014 US Open.
