Waiting for Earl (CC)
This will be a quick one, because I'm going to write the first match on Grandstand today, Aravane Rezai vs. Breatrice Capra. Then, if I have some time, I want to look in on the Kei Nishikori vs. Marin Cilic battle, which is also first on the menu, but on Court 13.
I went over to Amex's Next Contender's website to see if they had posted anything new in the wake of Oudin's loss yesterday to Alona Bondarenko, but came up empty. So that's the first of that group of four Amex players to go down. I'm paying special attention to them (the group consists of Oudin, Sam Querrey, John Isner and Caroline Wozniacki) because Amex has stepped up as a sponsor of our web effort here at TENNIS.com, and we appreciate that in this rapidly changing media environment.
I began to write a post about Querrey (and Ryan Harrison) yesterday, but between podcasts, video clips, scoreboard watching and actually sitting down in a real seat to watch a real match, live, things fall through the cracks, even when they're half done. But I'll finish that post, perhaps tonight or tomorrow - we may have plenty of time on our hands tomorrow, as we await the arrival of hurricane Earl, which may wash out the entire Friday program.
Enjoy the tennis, back with you later.
