GENEVA (AP)—Switzerland's Davis Cup captain says Roger Federer might play in the competition again, although the 17-time Grand Slam champion won't represent his country before the U.S. Open in September.

Captain Severin Luethi tells The Associated Press that Federer is "for sure not finished with Davis Cup.''
Switzerland has never won the team event. Federer is skipping a first-round series at home against defending champion Czech Republic this week.
By not making his Davis Cup plans clear in recent months, Federer has been criticized at home. Luethi says Federer decided last October to set his schedule this season with more rest and time with his family.
The Swiss captain says Federer "didn't take a final decision to say, `I'm not ever playing Davis Cup again.' "
