World No. 3 Victoria Azarenka has pulled out of next week’s tournament in Monterrey, Mexico with the same ankle injury that forced her to pull out of her Indian Wells quarterfinal, as well as Miami. She is not scheduled to play again until Madrid in early May.

In other injury news, after coming back in Miami, Canada’s Aleksandra Wozniak has been told that she needs another three months off due to shoulder trouble.

“It’s extremely disappointing and as difficult a decision as it is for me, there are no other options,” former Top-20 player Wozniak said in a statement released by Tennis Canada. “I felt ready to come back and I even took more time than needed as a precautionary measure to make sure my shoulder was fully healed, but now, I’m back to square one. I have to be patient, rest and prepare for a return to action in July.”
