Rafael Nadal, who hold a career 16-4 head-to-head record against compatriot David Ferrer, says he doesn't consider himself the favorite in the Acapulco final against his Spanish Davis Cup teammate.
Ferrer has only beaten Nadal once on clay, which was the first time they faced off in Stuttgart in 2004. Nadal is playing just his third tournament since he took seven months off due to knee trouble. He has a career record of 37-5 in clay-court finals and has never lost to a fellow Spaniard in a final (11-0). But he was upset by Argentine Horacio Zeballos in the Vina del Mar final last month.
"Being in the final is a win for me," Nadal told reporters. "I'm not in a position to pick me in any case. First, because the rival I have is one of the most difficult that you can find, and one of the opponents who is in the best form."
Nadal added that Ferrer is in better shape and has many more matches under his belt this season.
"But for me it's a game that I will enjoy and try to win," he said.
