Bernard Tomic will play at Roland Garros, despite the fact that his father and coach John has been suspended from the tour for allegedly assaulting his son's hitting partner Thomas Drouet. John Tomic will face assault charges in Madrid over the incident.

Tennis Australia's Todd Woodbridge told reporters that John Tomic is still acting as Bernard’s coach.

"He may not be on site but he's still going to be giving the instructions, and I think that's important for everyone to know, their relationship is still strong," Woodbridge said. "[Bernard] can handle that side of things — there's been plenty of it so far…

"From the communication I've had with his father, he will be in Paris and playing."
