Petra Kvitova has pulled out of next week’s tournament in Linz with a lower back injury. Kvitova won last week’s tournament in Tokyo and reached the semifinals of Beijing, where she fell to Jelena Jankovic.

Kvitova is currently No. 6 in the race to the WTA Championships, which is an eight-player field. She has played the most three-set matches in a season (36) since Patty Schnyder played the same number in 2005.
