Various Australian outlets are reporting that Nadia Petrova has withdrawn from the Australian Open after the death of her mother, Nadezhda Ilyina. The 31-year-old Russian also recently pulled out of Australian Open warm-up events.

The former world No. 3 will miss a Grand Slam tournament for the first time since 2006 Wimbledon. Bulgaria’s Tsvetana Pironkova moves into the main draw.
